On Thursday, October 23rd at 6:30 PM grief guru Mitch Carmody as part of his nationwide Proactive Grieving Tour will be presenting an evening seminar at Virginia City Hall, 327 South 1st Street. This is an event not to be missed. For more information contact Cheryl Weappa @ 749-5642.

Mitch Carmody is the author of “Letters To My Son, Turning Loss to legacy” which has been sold worldwide. Since losing his son to cancer in 1987, Mitch has dedicated his life to serving the bereaved in any way he can.  He has conducted both national and regional workshops for The Compassionate Friends, Bereaved Parents of the USA, and Hospice/health care providers across the country for over 15 years.  Mitch is currently on staff as workshop presenter with T.A.P.S., The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (of military loss) based out of Washington D.C. He has published articles for national grief periodicals, and has his own Radio Show “Grief Chat”.  He is an accomplished artist and creator of the innovative “20 Faces of Grief” and “the S.T.A.I.R.S.”  Model of grief processing through Proactive Grieving, and many more.

Mitch will be presenting two of his most attended workshops:

“Proactive Grieving, Turning Loss into Legacy” Proactive grieving means embracing your grief, not fighting it, medicating it (long term), or ignoring it.  It means living with the loss and choosing to be transformed by it.  It means finding your road to be able to reinvest in life, exploring ways to grieve out of the box and to address each unique aspect of your loss.

“Whispers of Love, signs from our loved ones” No matter how, when or where our loved one died, there is compelling evidence to support the belief that we can still feel their presence through signs. We will explore this phenomenon in detail and provide a slide show of extraordinary anecdotal evidence from all over the world that validates the experience for the griever.

The "Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial Park," in Virginia, Minnesota, is part of a national and international network of memorial parks that provide a place of comfort and hope to parents, family members and friends who grieve the loss of a child.  There are over one hundred such parks in existence.  The initial memorial statue and subsequent memorial parks were inspired by the book “The Christmas Box” by the author Richard Paul Evans.

Please feel free to bring a white flower in memory of your loved one to be placed at the base of the Angel statue.  A picture board will be available for you to place a photo of your loved one. The photo will remain until after the service is completed.
