Change in 12th Annual Angel of Hope Candlelight Service

12/2/2020

The 12th Annual Angel of Hope Candlelight Service, which would have been observed on December 6, 2020, at 7 p.m. has been cancelled out of an abundance of caution to keep families safe.   Even though the group gathering has been cancelled, we hope that individuals and families go to the park on their own to remember their loved ones.
We encourage all families to bring a white flower to the Angel, say your child’s name, and lay your flower at the base of the Angel.  What a wonderful way to bring your child into your Christmas celebrations.  The glowing ice candles represent the twenty new memorial tiles placed this year on the Wall of Love.
The "Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial Park," in Virginia, Minnesota, is part of a national and international network of memorial parks that provide a place of comfort and hope to parents, family members and friends who grieve the loss of a child.   There are currently more than 120 Angel of Hope monuments in the United States, Canada and Japan. Eight are in Minnesota: Maple Grove, Chanhassen, Perham, Spicer, Fergus Falls, Grand Rapids, Duluth and Virginia.
The tradition of the Christmas Box Angel came about because of the book The Christmas Box, by Richard Paul Evans.
This year, because of the pandemic, Richard Paul Evans will host this event from his home in Salt Lake City. All are invited to visit the Angel this year and listen to Richard Paul Evans virtually on Facebook Live on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 8 PM CST.  The link to watch the live Facebook event is https://fb.me/e/cHOTYALN6
The live Facebook event will also be available to watch on Virginia Public Access Channel No. 5.  This event will also be recorded             and the video will be available to watch on our website sometime after the event.
The Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial Park is on the South shore of Silver Lake, between 8th & 9th Avenues on 3rd Street South.
Please visit our website to review videos of previous events. www.childrensmemorialparkmn.org

Recognizing and welcoming families of all faiths and cultures.
Please join us for:
Our 12th Annual Candlelight Service
to honor the memory of children who have died, regardless of age or reason.

Sunday, December 6, 2020

Every December 6th at 7 p.m., parents and loved ones gather to remember and honor all our children. This year, however, we will be making some modifications to our annual event due to COVID-19. Our event will take place outdoors and will not include an indoor service, as in the previous years.
This year, we will gather at the Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial Park.   At 7 p.m., a brief Message of Hope will be shared, and a special dedication will take place for the memorial tiles placed on the “Wall of Love” this year.  Please feel free to bring a white flower in memory of your loved one symbolizing hope to be placed at the base of the Angel statue.   It is our hope that the annual vigil provides a place for grieving families to unite and find strength and comfort in one another.  Candles for this event, will be provided.
We encourage you to dress warmly, wear a mask and practice social distancing.

If you are unable to attend this event at 7 p.m., you are welcome to go to the Angel statue anytime on
December 6 and place your white flower at the base of the Angel, in memory of your loved one.
