BBQ Rib Cook-Off fundraiser for Children’s Memorial Park
VIRGINIA - A BBQ Rib Cook-Off fundraiser for Children’s Memorial Park will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 218 Chestnut Street in Virginia.
“We decided to work with the Children’s Memorial Park after going through a tragedy earlier this summer,” said 218 owner Carly Gobats. “Sue Tuomela reached out to us and gratefully guided us on how to cope with the loss of a very dear friend.”

The 218, in conjunction with A Little Off the Top and Northern Lights Inspection and Themography, are hosts of the BBQ cook off. All proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Memorial Park fund. The BBQ cook off will feature local BBQ backyard grillers, pork or beef ribs, friends and family, fun, and a chance to donate to a beautiful park that will help families throughout the Iron Range honor their lost love ones
A list of rules and sign-up sheets to cook are available at The 218 or A Little Off the Top. There will be a $10 donation for food, and raffles all day. Food will be served at 5 p.m., and rib judging will be at 6 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Live music at 8 p.m.
